Supaul

The district of Supaul had been a part of Mithilanchal since the vedic period. The area has been referred to as the fishery area in the Hindu mythology. The river Koshi flows through the district. It lies between 25 degree 55 minutes north latitude to 86 degree 15 minutes east longitude and is spread over an area of 2,420 sq.km. The district is divided in to 4 sub-divisions. The total population of the district is 17,45,069 with the population density of 724per sq.km and sex ratio 924 females per 1000 male.
