The West Bengal District Planning Committee Act, 1994
Summary :This is an act to provide the constitution of District Planning Committee at the district level for the consolidation of plans prepared by the Panchayats and Municipalities in the districts of West Bengal and preparation of draft development plan for the district as a whole. The main provisions in this Act include the Constitution of District Planning Committee, Approval and Modification of Draft Development Plan and Powers and Functions of DPC.
  
The West Bengal Municipal Act, 1993
Summary :This is an act to consolidate and amend the law relating to urban municipal affairs in West Bengal. The act clearly states the conditions and procedure for constitution of a new Municipality or inclusion of an area within an existing municipal, the administrative structure of the Municipality and the power and functions of the Municipality. Previously the Municipal Affairs of this State was administered by the Bengal Municipal Act, 1932. Later, in the end of 80s it was felt necessary to replace the said Act with an updated legislation

The Kerala Panchayat Raj Act, 1994
Summary :This is an act to replace the present enactment relating to Panchayats and District Councils in the State of Kerala by a comprehensive enactment. The act endows the Panchayats with powers and authority to enable them to function as institutions of self-Government, entrusting such panchayats for the preparation of plans and implementation of schemes for economic development and social justice.
  
The Kerala Municipality Act, 1994
Summary : This is an act to replace the present enactments relating to Municipalities and Municipal Corporations in the State of Kerala by a comprehensive enactment in line with the Constitution (Seventy Fourth) Amendment Act. The act endows the Municipalities with necessary powers and authority to enable them to function as institutions of self-government; and entrust such Municipalities with the functions of the preparation of plans and implementation of schemes for economic development and social justice.
  
The West Bengal Panchayat Act, 1973
Summary :This is an act to provide the constitution of Panchayati Raj in the State. The West Bengal Panchayat Act, 1973 envisages the functioning of the Zila Panchayats and Panchayat Samities, through ten functional Standing Committees called Sthayee Samitis having elected representatives and concerned officials as members. The Act also vests a PRI with the powers and duties to prepare development plan/annual action plan, to implement schemes for economic development and social justice.
  
The West Bengal Zilla Parishads Act, 1963
Summary :The West Bengal Panchayat act was enacted in 1956 which was subsequently modified and the West Bengal Zilla Parishad act came into existence in 1963.This an act to provide for the re-modelling of Local Government with a view of associating the local authorities with development activities and bringing about democratic decentralisation and peoples participation in planning and development.
